Long live the blog

March 14, 2019

Change of environment is pretty much as important as food to me. Took myself out for a couple of americanos to respond to comments and emails. Those tasks are somehow easier and more appealing to take on in a place outside of home.

Current view. This is Michelberger Hotel down my street. A windy walk over Warschauer Brücke and I’m here.

Anemones and wax flowers always go well together, don’t you think?

Shot these pictures with my phone using the Nomo app, love how the pictures turn out. I love the blogging format even more again, posting this and that not thinking about strategies. It feels like Instagram is about to die? Apparently people’s pictures don’t always show up in the feed, what’s the point of following someone if this happens? I don’t get it. Johan told me this morning that in his feed every 4th post is a sponsored post from companies he doesn’t follow, that’s crazy! I only see 1 post like that per 24 hours. Long live the blog!

Yes. I hated when everyone was saying blogging was dead. It’s my favorite social medium. Long live the blog indeed!

Yes dudette! Long live the blog! Har inte IG längre och orkar inte ens säga adjö den här gången. Stora kramar till dig efter denna blog vecka, och ha en mysig helg! <3

Love reading your posts, and wax flowers are beautiful 🙂
After trying instagram and then quiting a few months ago I can say that I’m happier without it! Blogs are really much better 🙂

I’m working on finding a balance between the two – thinking instagram could work a bit as a “trailer” for the blog, let’s see 🙂 THank you for your comment, Marie <3

Instagram definitely worked as a trailer for your blog, happy to see so many posts! I’ve read your blog for years, but hadn’t looked in a while. I especially love photos from your walks around the city, and the beauty in the small details (and graffiti, and architecture, and coffee and cake.) Although I haven’t yet been, I suspect that Berlin is my “spirit city”, and I’m pretty sure I lived there in another life, if such a thing is possible.

Aw Amy, what a sweet comment. Welcome back, so glad you like it. Hope you get to visit Berlin some day 🙂

Hear hear! I’m getting so fatigued with Instagram, whereas I still love the blogging format! Instagram is dead, long live the blog!

Blogs are so much better for storytelling and not a never-ending scroll journey, I’d say. <3

I always prefer a blog to a photograph; I just love reading about other people’s lives, and long Instagram captions are unbearable. Thing is, I keep reading about blogs making a comeback, but apart from yours I seem to be unable to find many that are actually posting on a regular basis.

Glad you like it here, Stef!
      Thanks 🙂
Spot on about the long Instagram captions, I never read them and wouldn’t write one on my own as Instagram isn’t the right forum for it (in my opinion). A blog has a slower pace and a more natural flow. Love blogs, but as you say – they are hard to find these days!

    Absolutely agree!

I was involved in the knitting community on Instagram for quite a while and left about two years ago when Instagram started changing.
Never looked back. Lots of mobbing and stuff going on their now I heard.

I have always loved your blog so much. I do miss seeing your stories, but I really don’t want another IG account.

Keep going, oh and thanks so so so much for your mediator post. Dark times are part of life, too.

    Virtual hugs,

Joanne, what a sweet comment, thank you. And I’m so sorry to hear about the bad vibes in the knitting community. Sending you lots of love,
      Sandra xo

I too need changes of scenery – sometimes on a day off I love to lounge around home but sometimes I need to get out and have a good coffee. I love classic blogs like yours – sometimes I get burnt out on blogs that turned into businesses. Though I understand the need for small businesses – it was nice to see pictures and words. I have IG and am on again- off again towards it.
