Dog beach

August 29, 2018

Last Sunday, Fiona, Peps and I decided to go to Grunewaldsee where there is a beach for dogs.

We took a long walk in the forest.

It was very dreamy and I tried to get Peps to pose for this picture, but she didn’t want to leave us (her sheep).

Peps.

After a while, we ended up at Locanda 12 apostoli.

And shared a pizza, Peps had some of the crust.

Jagdschloss Grunewald on the other side of the lake.

This is when Peps and Fiona stepped into the water and I afterwards joined them. Fiona and I screamed Let’s swim as well at the same time and I had my first swim in a long time. I want to live by a lake. Or even more, by the sea.

Back in Grunewald, we checked out some buildings.

Peps bought this and is moving in next month.

In August 1998, I started my first blog (it wasn’t called blog back then, online journal was the term). This means, I’ve been doing this for 20 years now. Back then, I lived in my hometown Luleå and published my online journal in Swedish, English and German, started working as a web designer and wrote some columns for a newspaper. I was crocheting like a freak as well, formed a community for online journals (called mindag (myday)), made friends online and discovered Photoshop. I was 19 and dug into music, literature and had dreams about moving to a big city. Well, much like in 1991, I guess.

I’m curious, when did you start visiting my blog?

I can’t remember when I started visiting your blog specifically, but I really started reading blogs around 2006/2007 and started my own in early 2008. I have always liked yours from the photographs and feel like I’m visiting new places and seeing new ideas (esp food and coffee and art!) come through your lens.

Means a lot and makes me want to continue (been having second thoughts lately) 🙂

    Hello Sandra,

It must have been in 2006 when blogging was taking off.
I remember the Swedish group of blogs you seemed to be part of in a way. Camilla, Fine Little Day etc.
    I still love catching up.
My husband is from Berlin and we miss it a lot.
So you connect me to Berlin and Gothenburg, which I love equally.
I used to be there once a month with my old job.

It’s odd following someone’s life without knowing them.
I think you are very creative and marvellous!

And I am looking forward to wearing my wrist worms soon.
And I perfectly understand your wanting to live by water!

    Joanne

Joanne, so much fun to read your comment!
This blog world back in the days was a great, supportive community. It felt more close to reality in a way, trying to keep that spirit here. Hope I manage 🙂

I love your dry wit (i.e. Peps buying the house); you always give me a soft chuckle. Perhaps that, plus the fact you find beauty in the everyday keeps me coming back. I suppose I found you sometime when I had my first blog (between 2007-2012). Probably because I was following Camilla Engman (because I loved her posts with Morran!) I found you. No idea how I found her… But glad I found you both. I just started a blog for my business, which is also new – I’m enjoying blogging again even though I have to do it with a different lens now (or do I?…) . Keep at it!!! I think blogging is making a comeback. Just this morning I followed someone on feedly that I have no interest in following on Instagram. I find myself doing that more and more. You strike a nice balance between great pictures and good story telling. 🙂 . What I love about blogging is seeing how people in other parts of the world live in the everyday and make the most of it.

Deann, your comment made me smile so much, thank you!! Oh how I loved Camilla’s Morran posts. And lucky me who became friends with that crazy dog. She was very special.

It’s probably been about ten years that I’ve followed your blog. It was during one of the most difficult times in my life, and your blog really helped. You were still living in Sweden then, which seemed so exotic to me! I have always loved your style, and I love the wristworms. Lost my most recent pair last winter, but maybe someone else is wearing them now? When I have a bit of money, I’ll spring for a new pair. I still have my original pair though, which unraveled too much for me to fix. I just kept tying the yarn back together.

Thank you for the blog Sandra! It’s so nice to check in with what’s going on with you and have a cup of tea as I go about my days. Please never stop! I want to see what you’re doing when you’re an old lady.

Claire, thank you for your beautiful comment! So glad you like the WW’s so much!!
Let’s see how blog life is when I’m an old lady. Half way there in December – 40!

I think I found you while googling for things to see and do in Berlin…must be at least 5 years ago now. I spent hours reading through your archives and drooling over all the photos. What I really love about you is that you share the highs and the lows – I loved Berlin and your blog is like a little visit there every time. Thank you😘

    • Reply Sandra September 14, 2018 at 12:22 pm

Thanks a lot Claudia, that means so much to me. I’m glad you appreciate the lows as well, it can be pretty scary to put it out there, but I think it’s important. My world is not a pastel world 😉

I think I have been following you since 2006 or so…Likely found you through camilla as well. I love to crochet and was fascinated by your reversible wristworms and worked out how you made them, as I could not really afford a pair back then. I was a stay at home mom at the time, struggling to stay sane and your little portal to an exotic life in Europe and all your tasty food shots, and fika sessions was a wonderful respite from humdrum routine. I lost touch for a while when family and work life got super busy…but stumbled upon you again and look forward to seeing what you are up too.

If you are ever in sf bay area would happily bake up some goodies and have you over for fika and a walk through the park with my dog.

Thank you for your honest and sweet comment, Mims. I’d love to visit the SF bay area some day, it’s on my wish list! xo

I think I started following you in 2008. There had been some big unwelcome changes where I worked. I discovered your blog and a few others that gave me a window out into the world. I have been so inspired by you to notice beauty every day, savor my coffee and make art! Thank you!

    • Reply Sandra September 14, 2018 at 12:24 pm

      Thank YOU, Linda!
I’m so glad to have given you something to look at in bad times.
Sometimes I go back in my archives to see that parts of my life have been really beautiful, helps me to stay sane.

Imke, this comment means the world to me right now, a big reason for losing my voice is this uniform world you’re describing. You’re encouraging me to make a louder voice now 😉

Hi Sandra! I think I’ve started reading your blog around 2008 or so, since then I don’t read blogs as much, but it’s lovely to catch up with your stories and read the archives once in a while. I love your point of view, the humour and the beautiful pics. I also feel I can relate to a kind of underground/not polished culture that I don’t find a lot in other online places. Thank you for sharing your world!!
